Nittany Leathernecks Russell Scholarship Eligibility - This information is available only for our membership
To qualify for a Russell Scholarship grant, the applicant will be either the son/daughter grandson/granddaughter of an eligible Nittany Leathernecks member (regular or associate), or the son or daughter of ANY Centre County veteran killed or significantly wounded under circumstances identified in the scholarship summary. "Centre County" veteran status means the individual entered military service from Centre County as a bonafide resident who has noted Centre County, PA as his/her home of record in their respective service record book. Applying dependants of eligible Nittany Leathernecks members MUST initiate the application themselves, which is on-line or can be obtained from the Nittany Leathernecks Paymast or RSF Committee Chairman or RSF trustee chairman. Applicants are eligible for four years at an accredited college/university or accredited trade school. Applicants who are sophomores, juniors or seniors must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average to remain eligible for scholarship grants. Applicants must also have not brought discredit to their name through unlawful or improper public action/conduct.
Eligible Member - An eligible Nittany Leatherneck member is defined as:
1. Member in good standing for a minimum of three consecutive years.
2. Member regularly attends business meetings.
3. Member regularly participates in annual fundraising activities.
4. Member has not brought discredit to himself or the detachment.
While no report of financial need be required, members who are not in economic distress should refrain from having their off-spring apply for subject scholarship grants. Click on the "Application" button above to download the application (PDF format). |
