Born: 19 April 1924, Lockhart,Texas.

Summary: Joined Marine Corps in 1942 for the duration of the war. Took a test while in boot camp and was asked to be an aircraft mechanic. Arrived at Guadalcanal in November of 1942. Went through hell with everyone else trying to maintain the F4F Wildcat. Caught a bad case of malaria and eventually shipped out with everyone to Espiritu. From there went to Santa Barbara. Recuperated and bounced around the Pacific winding up in the Philippines. Was honorably discharged during November of 1945. Accepted a job as a civilian instructor in the Philippines for the F4F and P-51. Spent three years between the Philippines and Guam. Got married in 1948. Worked for Ford Motor Co. testing jet engines - then worked for Sun Electric building prototype hydraulic units for aircraft. Finished up working over 25 years with the Sara Lee Corporation. Has raised 5 children who gave him 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is enjoying retired life and spends as much time as he can with his family.
