Summary: Designated Naval Aviator (#13300) 15 May 1942 at Miami, Florida. Commissioned Second Lieutenant USMCR 23 April 1942. Credited with one aerial victory. War diary entry on 13 May 1943 noted Lieutenant O.J. Seifert "Last seen diving at 45 degrees trailing white smoke, 5 miles North West of the Russells." On that day he was flying wing on Archie Donahue who shot down 4 Zeros and one probable. Otto Seifert was promoted posthumously to captain on 15 June 1943. He was awarded the Purple Heart and various other campaign ribbons and medals.
